The Perth Laverton Cycling Classic fundraises for an indigenous, youth, community cycling program, with riders enjoying the pristine wilderness of the Western Australian interior in full spring bloom.
Fundraising allows for school holiday cycling programs and the eventual employment of a local champion to run ongoing project’s that aim to educate individuals around the health benefits of cycling for exercise, transport, freedom, even sport.
Riders pass through the countries of Noongar, Badimia, Kuwarra and Wangkathaa while engaging in daily cultural exchange with indigenous elders willing to educate and provide insight to their land, culture and history. It was as much a cultural journey as a cycling one.
